I’ve definitely learned that you have to take things one step at a time. The goals that I’m reaching for are not necessarily goals that can be achieved in a one-month span, but rather they are goals that must be intricately planned and take time to establish. For my blog, I am sticking by my opinion that it is a routine that must be established at the beginning of the year. If parents know they can expect something from the beginning of the year, they will be more likely to participate. I am not ready to set new learning goals; however, I would like to make an attempt to blog with parents and students at the start of next year.
Next time, I will definitely try to participate in a collaborative discussion with colleagues. It’s very important to brainstorm and bounce ideas off one another. We currently do not have a meeting where teachers can have the opportunity to do this. I know that I have a lot to share with my colleagues and I’m sure they also have a lot to share with me.
Bethanne,
ReplyDeleteI agree that technology goals and routines should be set at the beginning of the school year. It would benefit the parents, teachers, and the students. My current GAME plan goals are slowing coming together but I think would evolve even more if my students and I practice this as part of our routine.
I encourage you to push the idea of a monthly tech meeting in your school. My school has a monthly meeting and it's really beneficial. The first part of our meeting involves our tech director demonstrating specific software programs. The final part of the meeting is when we have the chance to collaborate with one another.
Bethanne,
ReplyDeleteOur school has monthly tech meetings as well. They are so beneficial. Sometimes they introduce new software programs or other tech integration and sometimes they show us how to use the resources we currently have in a more advanced way. My goal is to eventually help present ideas. Good luck with getting these meetings started!

Bethanne,
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to trying to find time to share with your colleagues, I've found one of the tools this week to be helpful. Wiggio.com has the option to create a list serv in which people can create topics and just repond using their email. You could setup a group with colleagues around the state in your content area in which you can bounce ideas back and forth, relatively easily without having to be in the same place at the same time. I'm looking forward to seeing what else this tool can do.

ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a terrific tool that will be easy enough for everyone to use. I will definitely have to look into this! I like the fact that you can respond through email. It takes out that one necessary step which can often be the step that keeps people from participating!
Thanks!
